12A/B Impact Protection Vehicle Course (IPV)

BeSafe Training Ltd is a Lantra Approved supplier of Traffic Management Training.

Our accredited courses range from the standard 12D T1 through to the higher level competencies of TSCO.

Working closely with you, we provide a customised approach to meet your exact Traffic Management needs. Our courses cover the full range of requirements from classroom based training to on-site assessments.

Upon successful completion, we will register your results with Lantra and arrange the issue of your Lantra Card. Our courses are delivered from our own fully equipped training centre in Blaydon, or alternatively, we will deliver from your premises or other designated nationwide locations to suit your needs.

Our trainers deliver classroom and on-the-job training and assessment. With a combined 20 years’ plus experience in traffic management, our team strive to ensure you receive your Lantra certification.


Course Details

Who is it for?

Our one day NHSS in traffic management – IPV driver training course , has been specifically designed for you if you work on high speed roads, running mobile hard shoulder (or non-live lane)  operation using a IPV and for protecting and installing static temporary traffic management.

In order to undertake this course you must hold the appropriate HGV category on your driven licence. In order to drive on live lanes you must hold a valid 12A or 12C operative card as a minimum, otherwise you will be restricted to mobile hard shoulder operation.

  • •    Be aware of the general H/S requirements at work a well as those, which are specific to the traffic management industry
  • •    Understand the importance of risk assessments and method statement for traffic management activities
  • •    Be aware of the reference documentation used for traffic management
  • •    Know the requirements for an IPV as described in the relevant  reference documents
  • •    Be able to conduct pre-works checks on am IPV
  • •    Understand the procedures used for protecting the installation of static TTM Taper
  • •    Understand the procedures used for protecting mobile hard shoulder operation
  • •    Understand the extent of their duties after achieving this card
